Grants

Procedure
The Foundation has one granting cycle each calendar year. Applications are accepted from January 1st and must be received by March 31st (for 2019 the cutoff date for applications will be Friday, March 29). The Foundation committee, responsible for grants, spends the month of April in reviewing the requests in detail and doing any necessary follow-up. This committee then makes their recommendations to the full board of directors for approval.
All applicants are informed during the month of May as to the disposition of their grant request. For those receiving grants, the funding process will commence immediately and all funds will be available in a timely manner. All milestone dependent grants must be achieved by March 31 of the following year.

There are four grant application tracks (categories) available when applying for a grant
from the First Baptist Church of Phoenix Foundation. Grant ranges shown are based
on experience to date and are for information purposes only.

Track A-Funding for planting a new church
Providing funds for the planting of new Christian churches is the main mission of the Foundation. There must be funds available to the applicant from other sources that are equal to or greater than those being requested. The grant funding for this track can range up to $60,000 over a two year period. However, funding is only approved for twelve months at a time (the Foundation’s fiscal year), and a new application must be submitted for subsequent year funding. Grants for planting a new church will have milestones such as: core team building, launch team building, attendance, etc..
Track B-Funding for education and training of planting pastors
For individual pastors, this is a one time funding in the range of $1,000 to $5,000 based on actual training costs. For organizations that provide education and training for planting pastors the range would be $5,000 to $10,000.
Track C-Funding for mission and outreach projects
This track is for projects that relate to, and support, the overall mission of the Foundation.
This is a one time funding in the range of $10,000 to $20,000 dollars. Actual funding is
based on project costs.
Track D-Funding for support of new churches
This track is for churches, less than four years old, that have demonstrated success in
growing God’s kingdom, but are not yet financially self sufficient. This is a one time
funding in the range of $10,000 to $30,000 dollars and may also have Foundation specified milestones.

The First Baptist Church of Phoenix Foundation makes grants to bona fide churches
in the U.S. and to IRS-recognized 501(c) (3) public charities. In most cases, funding
requests for individual missionaries, and for foreign churches or organizations, should be
made by a sponsoring church or IRS-recognized public charity in the United States. In
special circumstances, the Foundation may review requests for direct funding to
individual missionaries and foreign organizations. Please contact the Foundation before
submitting such applications.
